Canada in History: The Game We Love

When I was a boy
and think back to that moment-
the Oilers first cup.

We all screamed out loud
and we all wore our jerseys
the game we all loved

as kids we all played
on paved streets and in driveways
the game we all loved

Pretending to be
Gretzky Kurri Messier
oh the game we all loved

we invited all
with all jerseys, stick and puck
to play the loved game

Richard from '60
Bossy and LaFleur from '80
came to play our game

the boy who was Orr
and the yank with the Hull shirt
all played in our game

Heroes across time
our sticks slapping the hard ground
the sounds of our game

The battles we had
to see who scores the last goal
during the game we loved

Canada's great past
and battles that we all fought
are important yes,

when I sit and think
of its history you see,
I think of the game

We, a great nation
Sharing the highs and the lows
Of the Game we love
